Wales Infrastructure Assessment 2026

Planning Wales’ long‑term infrastructure needs

The National Infrastructure Commission for Wales has developed the first long-term Wales Infrastructure Assessment. A clear, independent picture of the infrastructure Wales needs for a fair, resilient and prosperous future. The Assessment looks across energy, water, transport, digital connectivity and the circular economy to understand current performance, future pressures and long‑term investment needs.

Using evidence, data and engagement from across Wales, the Assessment highlights the key challenges and opportunities facing the nation over the next 5–80 years. Its purpose is to support better long‑term decisions, strengthen resilience to climate change, and ensure that infrastructure continues to serve communities, the economy and the environment for generations to come.
