Re: Nature on the Board

On behalf of NICW I would like to thank you for providing us with the expertise of Dr Juliet Rose to help us experience and appreciate how having a Nature representative within the Commission might work.

Juliet’s presence helped us to experience, rather than just conceptualise, what it might mean to have a representative of the natural world actively contributing to our thinking. Her insight helped us move beyond theoretical discussion and into a space of practical imagination. 

As a result of the conversation, we have now decided to take a significant step forward: we will be contracting a dedicated advisor to support the Commission in integrating Nature more fully into our deliberations and decisions. This is part of a wider pilot to explore how public bodies might embed ecological intelligence at the governance level, something we will be excited to share more about in the coming months.
