Congratulations on your recent appointment as Secretary of State for Wales.

The National Infrastructure Commission for Wales was set up to provide recommendations to the Welsh Government on the long-term needs for infrastructure in Wales.

In our report on accelerating renewable energy in Wales, published in October 2023, we called for the The Crown Estate’s functions in Wales to be devolved to a new body that has the reinvestment of all funds for the benefit of the people of Wales as its principal aim.

We view the current transfer of wealth arising from The Crown Estate’s activities in Wales, from the poorest part of the UK, to central government and to the Crown, as illogical and bizarre.
